During the second

The war of Vendee begun in 1793, the peasants revolted against the French government because they didn't agree with the changes on the Roman Catholic Church by the Civil Constitution of the clergy. 117,000-250,000 people lost their lives due to this revolt.  That caused a major government business to be war. Citizens were expected to serve as soldiers or suppliers in the war.
